Palo Alto Mud Dawgs Bid Farewell to Hung Chen

Farewell Hung!

On Memorial Day Monday some of the Palo Alto Mud Dawgs bid farewell to our friend, Hung Chen.

Bill Keating and his beautiful wife, Emy, hosted the party at their Redwood City home.

Hung with his wife and two kids will return to Taiwan later this week to live. Hung will work at TSMC and care for his aging parents.

Hung is a great friend and we will miss him.

Here are a few pictures from the party.

Coyote Point on Saturday May 23, 2015

Hung and I are both regulars at Coyote Point, too. While many of us are lazy on the beach waiting for better wind, we'd often find Hung out having great fun on his big board working on tricks in low wind and then powering up in the gusts to do other tricks.

Here is a picture of Hung jibing at Coyote Point on Saturday May 23, 2015 after he caught a gust to do a duck jibe.   Notice all others in the photo, except for the kiter, are swimming in!

I went out on my biggest board (141L) and found it was too much in the 28 MPH gusts behind SFO and too light for the near zero lulls inside to be comfortable.  (I did not have to swim in!)

While most of us were complaining on the beach after trying to sail the 0 to 28 MPH wind, Hung was out sailing on his very floaty board inside with a smaller sail to handle the gusts, making me wish I had a huge board for those days so I could do this too.
